About Dan Galant
I am a licensed senior clinical psychologist at a one-of-a-kind treatment center, Practical Recovery (https://www.practicalrecovery.com).
I received my Masters (1990) and Doctoral (1999) degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, and a Bachelors degree from UCLA (1986). In addition, I am a certified hypnotherapist through the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE). I have been on staff at UCSD and Kaiser Permanente.
I studied Motivational Interviewing directly under the originator of the technique, Dr. William Miller at the University of New Mexico. I also have advanced training in EMDR and EFT/TFT. I gained specialized training in smoking cessation and worked for the California Smoker’s Helpline ( 1-800-NO-BUTTS ). I served my post- doctoral internship and currently work with world acclaimed addiction specialist, Dr. Tom Horvath.
In addition to my passion for conducting psychotherapy, I am a musician and songwriter residing in beautiful San Diego, CA.
